Job: Guest Service Associate
Location: 7922 W. Jefferson Blvd | Fort Wayne, IN  46804
Shifts: Monday & Wednesday from 4pm-8pm
Pay:  18/hr

 

The Guest Service Associate / House Manager plays a key role in creating a supportive and welcoming environment for families staying at Hope’s Harbor. This position combines direct guest care, house management, and administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The individual will work independently during assigned shifts while reflecting Hope’s Harbor’s values of compassion, respect, and empathy.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a nonprofit, hospitality, or social service setting preferred
  • Strong administrative, relational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers, including Office 365, and ability to learn industry-specific platforms
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License

Key Responsibilities

Guest Relations & Program Support

  • Provide compassionate, direct support to guests throughout their stay
  • Manage guest occupancy during shifts, including registration, waitlist coordination, check-ins, and check-outs
  • Prioritize referrals and guest stays according to established guidelines to serve as many families as possible
  • Ensure guest adherence to House policies and community guidelines in a courteous and supportive manner
  • Provide tours and orient new guests to policies, services, and House amenities

 House & Operations Management

  • Clean and reset guest rooms after checkout, including laundry and room turnovers, following established checklists
  • Complete assigned shift cleaning tasks and accurately record completion
  • Properly store leftover meals from volunteer-provided meals; prepare simple meals in the absence of volunteers, following provided guidelines

Administrative & Communication Support

  • Maintain accurate and well-documented guest records in the registration system
  • Log guest check-in/check-out status and record any donations received
  • Document shift activities and interactions for clear communication between shifts
  • Answer phones professionally, take and relay messages promptly
  • Receive and process donations with appreciation, maintaining a positive relationship with community members and volunteers

Community & Volunteer Relations

  • Greet and assist visitors warmly and professionally
  • Support and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and medical partners
  • Represent Hope’s Harbor’s mission with professionalism and empathy in all interactions

Job Knowledge & Skills

  1. Ability to build effective professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills in person, by phone, and electronically
  3. Comfort working with intermittent direct supervision, with confidence to move assignments forward independently
  4. Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in the absence of direct supervision

Job Classification & Schedule

  • Part-time, non-exempt position
  • Starting Rate: $18/hour
