Hope’s Harbor Provides Vital Support for Families Facing Neonatal Care Challenges
Fort Wayne, Indiana – Hope’s Harbor Family Hospitality Homes is honored to share the touching experience of the Gohn family, showcasing the vital role our services play in supporting families during critical times.
Rance and Cassie Gohn, along with their children Murphy, Mackie, and Darby, experienced an unexpected and challenging journey when their twins were delivered prematurely via emergency C-section. Mackie and Darby spent several weeks in the NICU at Lutheran Health Network, requiring their parents to navigate the complexities of having newborns in critical care.
During their stay, the Gohn family learned about Hope’s Harbor from the compassionate nurses who cared for their twins. Cassie reflects on how this information provided immense relief during a difficult period. “Knowing we could stay close to our babies 24/7 was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. The thought of commuting every day to see them was overwhelming, so having a place so nearby was a tremendous comfort,” Cassie shared.
The transition to Hope’s Harbor was seamless for the Gohn family, thanks to the support from the NICU staff who coordinated their stay. “The process was incredibly smooth. We had a room waiting for us the night our babies were born, and moving in was effortless,” Rance noted.
The Gohns found solace in the community and amenities provided at Hope’s Harbor. “Staying at Hope’s Harbor was more than just having a place to sleep. It was a relief to be surrounded by people who were going through similar experiences. The meals provided and the overall support made it a safe space where all our needs were met,” Cassie explained.
The family’s experience highlights the significant impact of Hope’s Harbor’s services. “Initially, I was a bit apprehensive, but once we arrived and met the wonderful staff, all of that faded away. It’s clear that Hope’s Harbor is a place where you’re embraced as part of the family,” Rance added.
